u2

i am down right in love with the band U2. the reasons are many and i am not going to go into it. i started thinking about them today when i walked by my stack of U2 books... maybe a little much... but oh well... if you have never sat down and listened to "the joshua tree" or "all that you can't leave behind", i highly recommend it.

friends

i am so lucky to have really wonderful lovely friends. last night i had a great time with my friends at mandy's goodbye party. today i had a very nice day out with hilary for shopping at the outlets in a complete blizzard! since we were so brave in the weather, we decided it best to have some peanut butter fudge from malley's :)

cake

tomorrow is my friend Mandy's last day at out office. boo hoo, this makes me really sad. i made a cake for the party and thought i would post a picture of it, plus a couple of my favorite pics of her over the past few years. ( i made the pics small so they didn't take up a bunch of room but you can click on 'em if you want to see them better.)

my mama made me this blanket for christmas (COMPLETE surprise by the way, *wink*) and i love it. especially the colors she chose!

today i wore this pretty little flower in my hair. its attached to a headband- i just like the little extra touch.

fabric

i wish very badly that i could sew. when i was in 5th grade i took a quilting class and since then i have been kind of intrigued by it. every once in a while i will notice a fabric sale at Joann's and will be like, a yard of fabric can completely be transformed into something amazing. instead it ends up in this basket. oh well... maybe i'll take a class someday...

martha

martha stewart. i love her. LOVE. well...i love her publications. i have subscribed to her magazine since college and have NEVER thrown a magazine away without searching through it and taking out what I like. I keep them in these binders. am i crazy, perhaps....

i have had a very long past few days and i am exhausted. so i am whimping out and posting 2 pics i took a few years ago. forgive my laziness...

orchid

i love this orchid i have in my bathroom. i have a BLACK thumb and therefore would kill a real orchid in about 9 minutes, but this silk one has lasted me years and i just love it.

happy place

today, the absolute worst of my nightmares came true. i went to have 3 skin tags removed from my neck today and they ended up removing 25. in order to remove the tags, they have to numb the area, which means that i received 25 shots in my my neck and chin. i did not faint or pass out (which is a miracle) and i like to think that its because i imagined i was in my happy place... of course... paris.

cookies

tonight i am making my famous peanut butter and jelly cookies for my office tomorrow. i figure i would make something for fat tuesday before everyone gives up sweets for lent.

i noticed this little cup i picked a few years ago at the rummage sale in my cupboard, and it made me think of the cute olympic villages they make for the athletes and visitors. so cute.

sparkles

for as long as i have been ALIVE nothing makes me happier than a nice sparkled, sequined, over the top, glitzy outfit. what is funny about that, is that my fashion sense is the exact opposite of that. i couldn't be more preppy if i tried but i still love my sparkles. this tank top was on sale tonight at Kohls and I just couldn't resist it. i had to. it's who i am.... but not really.

puzzle

so, i thought i would do something nice and calming during the past few snowy days. why not a puzzle?, i asked myself. big mistake. i want to be a puzzle person, i really do but i find them incredibly irritating. this 550 piece puzzle took me HOURS over 2 days but i finished it. ugh. just not a puzzle person...

snow

well, as a clevelander, it was only too long before i posted a picture of snow. it really is beautiful, just not when i'm driving in it:)

heaven

my idea of heaven changes from time to time, but what is almost always there on the list, is bread right out of the oven. mmmmmmmm.... oh and george clooney fits in there somehow too.

polish

it has become a tradition of mine to do girly things while watching football games. for instance, last year i sewed while watching the Ohio State vs Michigan state game. today for the super bowl i went for a full on manicure and pedicure. i was rooting for Peyton while applying my last coat, but it didn't work. oh well...

wrapping paper

if you ever, EVER, run into me at ikea, target or CVS and see me with a roll of wrapping paper in my hand, take it out of my hand and run. i might fight you for it, but its for my own good.

mr bear

although my beloved "b" holds the biggest spot in my heart when it comes to my childhood possessions, this guy is a close second.

meetings

oh lord. church meetings. they will be the end of me some day. i just got home from a 3 hour music meeting. i love church and i love working for churches, but man, i could do without the meetings. this picture is of the pitcher the church of redeemer gave me when i left bowie, i thought leaving there would be the end of these meetings, what happened? :)

"water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink." i feel like that sometimes while looking in my closet. tons of clothes and nothing to wear. that was me this morning.

my friend mo says, "that julie sure knows how to accessorise an outfit" and today she went crazy for my pretty turquoise necklace. i love it too!

swede

i had dinner on saturday night with my dear friend Hilary where she made a yummy swedish meal of meatballs, gravy, potatoes and lingonberry. i love having a swedish friend nearby:)
