tea

nothing like a nice cup of hot tea to make you feel better. i am a bit under the weather today but hoping i feel better tomorrow:)

nature

oh nature. what could be more beautiful and lovely. to quote the famous poem, "i think that i should never see, a poem as lovely as a tree." oh PUH-LEASE. this time of year nature means one thing- allerigies. i have been sneezing all day because of these dang trees.... still... very pretty.

shakespeare

i am in a constant search of something good to read. i went through a bunch of the classics and the big name that was always daunting to me was William Shakespeare. oooooooh. scary. however... i found these fabulous books called "no fear shakespeare" where on the left side of the book is the original text and the right side is in modern text. i still read the original but the other side can just clarify a little. so far i have gotten through Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Lear and am currently half was through Richard III with a stack of other classic waiting for me. is it cheating, maybe a little, but it has helped me conquer my fear of Shakespeare, so who cares? :)

enemy

as i have stated before, i love my apartment, love it! except 1 thing, my heater. i have no control over it so it is either red hot or ice cold. and it makes a HORRIFIC loud banging at all hours of the day but very randomly and sporadically. oh well, you take the bad with the good i guess.

frosting

i was just in the mood for baking tonight so i decided to make iced sugar cookies in an attempt to cheer my office up a little. truth be told, anything with frosting on it would make me happy, but bright colored frosting, EVEN BETTER.

anthropologie

(sorry i have been away, my internet has been acting up.) good weekend, a little sleep, a little cleaning, a little reading and a little shopping. saturday night my friends took me out for my birthday (only 23 days late! :) ) today i went to one of my favorite stores in the world, anthrologie. they sell really unique clothing, jewelry and home accessories and found this excellent display. the shirt was on sale but the skirt was made of paper. i just loved the way it looks, reminded me of Paris actually.

today is secretaries day... or administrative assistants day depending on who you ask. i got there lovely flowers from my boss today. always nice to feel appreciated and special.

so, i bought the backing to my quilt, pinned it and started sewing again. man... a sewing machine would sure come in handy with this quilt...

quilt

here it is. my t shirt quilt! well... the front part anyway. i just need to sew the back to it and finish it. i like it and it brings make so many memories of camp and north park.

regatta

today i was invited to columbus to go to a regatta race with a friend of mine. too bad it was NEXT weekend. i brought my camera with me expecting to take pics of the boats... but i got nothing. so instead, here is a picture of where i go to study on lake erie during the summer. (water theme, get it?)

pearls

today i went to a woman's retreat ay my church. the speaker was wonderful and one of the things she talked about is how pearls are made beautiful by the irritation of the sand in the clam. i was thinking about that and found this ring i inherited from my Grandma Anderson, which is the only real pearl i have. i remember her wearing it and thought of what a tough but beautiful woman she was. i am happy i have this as a reminder of her.

there are many things i like about my apartment, but one of the big reasons is the tree that lives outside my bedroom window. and it is at its best in spring when it is covered in these pretty white flowers. SO pretty.

someone come and take all the easter candy from me! except the jelly beans... and the chocolate eggs... and the peeps... oh never mind.

guitar

hello. this is my blue acoustic guitar. i love this guitar, not only because it sounds great but it is just beautiful. i am singing and leading music for a retreat this weekend and have been practicing my little heart out. wish me luck!

when i was really bored one day in Bowie Maryland I decided to be crafty, cut up a whole bunch of my t shirts from college and camp and make a quilt with them. i put the squares in a bag and haven't looked at them since. on sunday i found the bag and became inspired. i am pretty far along and super excited about it. this square is from a t shirt i stole from my mom :) love it.

nephews

well, i big time whimped out last out and didn't post a single thing last week. However, I had a very good reason, my nephews were in town and by the time I got home, I was in no mood for blogging. here are a few pics of when Mom, Eric Ben and I went to the Great Lakes Science Center. Good times indeed. Love those guys.

just pulled a peach pie that i made out of the oven. didn't go exactly as planned since i didn't read that the creme fraishe needed to chill for 24 hours. whoops! still turned out great as just a peach pie with streusel topping...i hope. AND i got to use my pie weights for the first time which was very exciting for me:)

museum

one of my favorite places in the world to be is an art museum. i loved the one in chicago- i would go and study there on the weekends at least once a month. when i lived in DC i visited all the art museums i could. of course, Paris was HEAVEN when it comes to art museums. but i am happy to say that cleveland has a fantastic art museum. it has become my tradition of mine to go to the art museum on good friday and reflect and this year was no different. here are a few shot of some of my favorites (that i was allowed to take a picture of)

birthday

today... i am 32 years old. i wish i could take a picture of all the wonderful gifts, cards, treats and wishes i received today.... but i can't. i don't really know what to take a picture of so i thought i would post a picture of me during a time where birthdays were SO much more exciting. still a great day... but different. :)
