beatles

Tonight is new years eve. Instead of going downtown like I have the last few years, I decided to just stay at home and just rest. I DID however treat myself to 2 things today with my Christmas bonus from work. 1- a new camera (which I took this pic with) and all the Beatles albums I didn't have. Thank you Best Buy!

fabric

I've been unhappy with what's been hanging up in my bedroom the past few years, so tonight I bought some fabric, covered some canvases and hung 'em up. I really like the way they turned out.

necklaces

I currently count 22 long necklaces hanging in my closet. I have bought some, made some and gotten them as gifts. I love my accessories and necklaces are one of my favorites. Coco Chanel said "I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny. " My thoughts exactly.

gifts

Tonight was the night my girlfriends Erin, Mandy, Kris and I exchange gifts. I recieved some books from Kris to add to my collection of classics I am trying to catch up on. Mandy got me a gorgeous scarf. And Erin got me a yummy smelling perfume. I gave some fun accessories to my girls, plus I hand painted a bowl and plate for each of them, which they all loved. I LOVE my girls and am so thankful for them :)

How could I possibly pass these up? They were only $4 at world market... and the last box.... and they are yellow... and so cute. Do i fold my napkins? No. Do I use cloth napkins? No. But with these new napkin rings, I might just start.

flowers

I love flowers. Love 'em all. Tulips are my absolute favorite but I noticed on my shelf today this rose my Grandma Anderson gave my Grandma Dickerson that I inherited at some point. I love it and it makes me think of my lovely grandmother's too.

books

I have an obscene amount of books. Novels, memoirs, poetry, art books, biographies, religious books, childhood favorites, cookbooks, numerous Martha Stewart books, and these pretty Kate Spade books. I love to be surrounded books, for some odd reason I find it comforting. Like being around old friends.

cookies

Today was Cookie Day with my mom. We made 6 different cookies (or cookys as my Grandmother Anderson had on her Spritz recipe card, which i LOVE.) While spritz are my favorite to eat, I found these poinsettia cookies the prettiest. I love the color!

bluebird

Well, now that you know why I am posting this blog, I thought I would explain the reason for the name Bluebird365. Well, the 365 is for my goal for posting everyday of the year. For the bluebird - For as long as I can remember I have been madly in love with a stuffed bluebird I named "B". B has been with me through school, camp, college, maryland and cleveland. I have never stopped adoring her and have never not been with B. She has lost her feathers, her beak, and most of her stuffing. I have been told on several occasions by many people that B is ugly and I should throw her away. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess cause I just think she's great.

beginning

So, the goal of my starting this little blog is to find something beautiful or fun every single day of the year. I was so lucky to go to Paris a few years ago and what I loved about it, was it was beautiful EVERYWHERE. Trash cans, amazing. Water drains, beautiful. I noticed everything and fell in love with the city. When I got back home I realized that there are beautiful and lovely things around me everyday. So this is my goal, to share the beautiful things around me, and encourage you to do the same.

Before I start my daily search, I thought I would post a few of my favorite pictures from the past few years. Here we go...

Paris. I did not stay here but I couldn't help but take a picture. So beautiful.

This is at the Louvre. I love all the windows in the Louvre, it's like overload for the eyes though. You are surrounded by all this amazing art and you look outside and realize you are in Paris. Incredible.

This is at the Musee d'Orsay, the view from the table we had lunch at. I believe I had a blueberry torte for dessert. Heaven.

Poor poor Doug. I made him stay at the Notre Dame forever. Every time I went to put my camera away I would find something else, like this little teeny tiny part of the outside buttresses. Every inch of that place took my breath away.

Did you know the Eiffel Tower was brown?

Outer Banks NC heading to the beach with my nephew Eric. What could be better?

One of my favorite ways to treat myself... a small bunch of flowers.

My crazy, loving, cuddly cat Flicka.

Shoes. I love them.

The view from my bedroom window in spring.

CHIC2009. With the youth group I work with. I LOVE the kids I work with they bring me great great joy.

Splitting a piece of chocolate cake with my nephew Benjamin. Quite the "charmer" isn't he?

A $5 bunch of flowers from the Shaker Square Farmers market. One of the best parts of the neighborhood I live in.

Virgina Beach, Va, Summer 2009. What is it about sitting around a fire that is so calming?

So there's a little history of some of my favorite things from the past few years. Check back each day (hopefully) to see a new image and I hope you find things in your own life to marvel at.
